General Notes for Residential Customers

Welcome to our General Notes for Homeowners page, created to support your solar quote and highlight key information relevant to residential solar projects in Nova Scotia.  Below you'll find important details on rebate programs, installation timelines, and equipment warranties specific to our region.

Important Information for Homeowners

Greener Homes Canada

The Canada Greener Homes Loan offers Nova Scotia homeowners interest-free financing of up to $40,000 over 10 years for eligible energy-efficient upgrades, including solar panel installations.

This program helps reduce the upfront costs of transitioning to solar energy, making it more accessible for residents seeking sustainable home improvements.

Efficiency NS Rebate Program

The Efficiency Nova Scotia SolarHomes rebate program ended in April 2025. To help ease the transition, Doctor Solar is now offering an instant rebate equal to the former program—but only for a limited time.

Doctor Solar 60 Day Install Guarantee

We’re committed to getting your solar system up and running quickly. That’s why Doctor Solar offers a 60-day activation guarantee—if your system isn’t activated within 60 days of receiving your deposit, we’ll issue a credit for the estimated lost production.

Please note: This guarantee excludes delays outside of our control, including Nova Scotia Power processing or inspection delays, line-side connection requirements, customer-specified equipment selections, and ground mount installations. Contact us for full details or to see if your project qualifies.

Manufacturers Warranty on Solar Equipment

All major solar components installed by Doctor Solar come with manufacturer warranties ranging from 12 to 25 years, depending on the equipment. These warranties fully cover the hardware for the duration of the warranty period but do not automatically include labor or service costs.

For the first 5 years after installation, if a component fails, the manufacturer will typically issue a replacement part at no charge and may provide a small installer credit to help offset labor. However, this credit is limited and may not cover the full cost of service or replacement.  After the 5-year period, any labor or service fees related to warranty replacements are the responsibility of the homeowner.
